Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign
Every year, the Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign runs from mid-November to mid-December. The aim of the Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign is provide every child and youth with a new book for Christmas. New books, are collected at all of the library branches in Sarnia-Lambton, The Book Keeper, Poppies gift store (Bluewater Health) and the OLL office. The Book Keeper bookstore generously offers a 20% discount on all books that are purchased for the Give-a-Book Christmas campaign. Once collected, the books are placed in Christmas hampers throughout Sarnia-Lambton, with the help of the following community partners:
New books have also been collected for Rebound, St. Clair Child and Youth Services, the Huron House Boys Home and the YMCA Resource Houses (the Friendship House, the House By The Side Of The Road and Our House) as well. In 2015, over 2300 books were collected.
The purpose of the Take-a-Book initiative is to inspire a love of reading in adults and children. Gently-used books are collected throughout the year, and placed in 18 Take-a-Book bins throughout Sarnia-Lambton. Adults and children are encouraged to take free books out of the bins. The bins are refilled on a regular basis by volunteers. We do not accept:
