Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign


Every year, the Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign runs from November to December. The aim of the Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign  is provide every child and youth with a new book for Christmas. New books are collected at all of the Lambton County libraries, The Book Keeper, Poppies gift store (Bluewater Health) and the OLL office. The Book Keeper bookstore generously offers a 20% discount on all books that are purchased for the Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign. Once collected, the books are placed into the hands of  community partners for distribution:

  • Aamjiwanaang First Nation
  • Christmas Is For Everyone
  • Operation Christmas Tree
  • Rebound Sarnia-Lambton
  • St. Clair Child and Youth Services
  • St. Vincent de Paul
  • The Salvation Army
  • The Women’s Interval Home
  • YMCA Community Houses
  • Yule Glow 


In 2018, over 3000 books were collected and distributed.

Take-a-Book


The purpose of the Take-a-Book initiative is to inspire a love of reading in adults and children. Gently-used books are collected throughout the year, and placed in 18 Take-a-Book bins throughout Sarnia-Lambton. Adults and children are encouraged to take free books out of the bins. The bins are refilled on a regular basis by volunteers. We do not accept:


  • books with questionable content
  • dictionaries
  • encyclopaedias
  • magazines
  • religious/spiritual books
  • textbooks
